I have decided to run again for the County Commissioner seat, position 3. With my husband, Steve, fully supporting me and the backing of so many of you in the community, I hope to once again be your County Commissioner and continue the great progress we’ve made in building a strong and financially sound county. Oregon Public Broadcasting recently released a map of all the counties in Oregon with budget deficits (noted in Red). Please note, out of a sea of red, Jackson County is one of the very few counties that stands fiscally sound in the state and I’m proud to have worked hard with the board to achieve that. A fiscally sound county means jobs and opportunity not only for us, but for our children and grandchildren coming up behind us. A chance for them to stay and work in the county they love.
I have spent my time as your commissioner encouraging and facilitating public input and really listening to the peoples’ needs and wants. I have worked for years on fire policies, coordinating with local, state and federal officials, even taking it all the way to the White House, and eliminated the ‘Let it Burn’ policies that kept our summers choked with smoke. As always, I will continue to advocate for more local control and less Federal and State overreach and mandates. And yes, sometimes I am a lone vote up there for less government intrusion, but I stay strong and committed to those beliefs. I remain a trusted conservative, common sense voice and will continue to vote for the values of the people who put me in office.
But there is still so much more to do to keep our county on the right track. I’m humbled that so many of you put your support and trust in me last time and I look forward to continuing that journey with you for another four years.
Thank you in advance for your encouragement, generous support and prayers. Steve and I are both grateful for your friendship and wish you many blessings in 2026.
Sincerely, Colleen Roberts
Huge Win - Historic Funding Restored to O&C Counties
County Commissioner Colleen Roberts, the Association of O&C Counties representative, is proud to announce that Congress has passed the FY26 Interior Appropriations Bill. This bill returns our rightful 75% of shared timber receipts from O&C lands. It will ultimately be reflected by a 50% increase of the current revenue share for Jackson County on an annual basis.
This bill represents years of advocacy at the Federal level and represents one of the most, if not the most, significant achievements and highest priorities for O&C Counties in the last 44 years.
“It has been an honor to represent the people of Jackson County on the O&C Board of Directors for the last 10 years,” said Commissioner Colleen Roberts. “Over 50% of the land base in Jackson County is managed by the federal government, and the majority of that is classified as O&C lands. The management of these lands and upholding the provisions of the O&C Act—including timber receipts—are crucial to the timber industry, our citizens, and county government. While Jackson County is financially one of the strongest in the state, the additional revenue will help maintain the critical services the county provides. It’s truly a win-win for our community.”
